Thursday was networking day, with a variety of appointments and meetups all over Toronto.
Landed Immigrants!
It was so easy! We arrived at Lester B Pearson Airport, Toronto, yesterday morning at around 11.30 a.m. By shortly after midday, we had completed the formal immigration process – quicker and far less aggressive than arriving as visitors at Newark! No long waits (we were the only people in the immigrant office), no difficult questions or requests for information we didn’t have. Just a friendly, smiling young man who made it all very pleasant and easy.
The Beach
What better way to unwind after a long flight than to walk down the leafy streets join Toronto in laying claim to the glorious summer’s day on Woodbine beach? Grassy parkland gives way to the Boardwalk and shady trees before opening up onto the blistering hot sand of the bay and the blue horizon of Lake Ontario.
Arrival
We arrived to soaring temperatures – Toronto’s hottest day of the year so far. Maybe it was the mellowing affect of the sunshine, but I was struck by the cheery, companionable hum of conversation on the subway as we crossed the city West to East from the airport to Woodbine.
Why Canada?
It occurred to me last night whilst reading about Canada’s political and social development that one of the things that attracts me to Canada is the developmental stage it has reached.
